Tangerang (ANTARA) \u2014 The Boen Tek Bio Temple in Tangerang, Banten,\nwas visited by thousands of worshippers during the Chinese New Year\ncelebrations from 16 to 17 February 2026, as congregants performed\nprayers and worship rituals.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey came in succession to offer prayers in accordance with\ntradition, from burning incense sticks (hio), prostrating before Tian,\nBuddha, and the various deities venerated within the temple,\u201d said Boen\nTek Bio Temple spokesman Soey Hong in a statement in Tangerang on\nTuesday.<\/p>\n
The worship rituals began with prayers using incense as a symbol of\nreverence and the conveying of supplications. Afterwards, worshippers\nprostrated and prayed at several altars in sequence, starting from the\nAlmighty God, Buddha, and then the other deities, numbering\napproximately 15 statues in total.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe content of prayers usually varies. Young people typically pray\nabout finding a partner, whilst business owners ask for smooth-running\nenterprises. There are no fixed prayers \u2014 everything is tailored to each\nperson\u2019s needs and hopes,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
He said the Year of the Fire Horse is interpreted as a year full of\nchallenges. Fire meeting fire means one must exercise greater caution in\nconduct and in navigating life. For this reason, the faithful are\nencouraged to worship more diligently and take care of themselves.<\/p>\n
The Year of the Fire Horse, he added, is also believed to bring a\nspirit of competition in business. Fortune is thought to favour those\nwho work swiftly, professionally, and diligently in their respective\nfields.<\/p>\n
Worship activities are expected to continue until the third day of\nthe Chinese New Year celebrations. The festivities will subsequently\nconclude with the Cap Go Meh tradition, held a fortnight after Chinese\nNew Year.<\/p>\n
During this Chinese New Year period, worshippers also expressed their\nhope that harmonious relations with the surrounding community would\ncontinue to be maintained.
