Four new energy vehicle (NEV) models from Chinese manufacturers won\nfavourite car awards at Indonesia\u2019s largest automotive exhibition, the\nGAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, which took\nplace from 30 July to 9 August.<\/p>\n
The four models included the Chery Q electric car, which was awarded\nfavourite passenger vehicle in the hatchback segment, and the Wuling\nAiraEV electric car, which was the most test-driven electric vehicle\n(EV) during the exhibition. Meanwhile, Jetour won two awards at once:\nspecial exhibit car for the T1 I-DM model and most test-driven hybrid\ncar for the T2 I-DM model.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe selection of the Chery Q as favourite hatchback shows that the\ncompleteness of features and the driving experience we offer received a\npositive response from visitors,\u201d said Chery Business Unit Vice Country\nDirector Budi Darmawan Jantania in a statement.<\/p>\n
In addition to vehicle categories, several other Chinese brands such\nas GWM, Xpeng and Leapmotor also won awards for the most popular\nexhibition stand category at the show.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s GIIAS exhibition was enlivened by a number of Chinese car\nmanufacturers that launched several new models, mostly in the NEV\nsegment, both pure electric cars and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles\n(PHEV). In addition, two new brands also officially launched, namely\nLeapmotor and Zeekr, which presented more NEV options for the domestic\nmarket.<\/p>\n
The exhibition became an opportunity for these brands to showcase NEV\ninnovations while increasing their market penetration in Indonesia.\nChinese brand DFSK, for example, recorded total orders of more than 600\nunits by the final day of the exhibition, with more than half coming\nfrom its newest hybrid car, the DFSK E5 Plus.<\/p>\n
