        "content": "<p>Chinese fishermen see case dismissed<\/p>\n<p>OLONGAPO, Philippines (AP): A judge dismissed yesterday<br>\ncharges of illegal entry into Philippine territory against 21<br>\nChinese fishermen apprehended by the navy near the disputed<br>\nScarborough Shoal in the South China Sea.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Eliodoro Ubiadas of the Olongapo City Regional Trial<br>\nCourt said it has not yet been established that the area where<br>\nthe Chinese fishermen were arrested \"exclusively belongs to the<br>\nexclusive economic zone of the Philippines\".<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese fishermen were arrested May 20 about 12 kilometers<br>\noff Scarborough Shoal, which Manila claims is Philippine<br>\nterritory but Beijing says has been part of China since ancient<br>\ntimes.<\/p>\n<p>China has protested the arrest of the fishermen and demanded<br>\ntheir immediate release. President Fidel Ramos ignored the<br>\nrequest, and said the Philippine judicial system would deal with<br>\nthe fishermen.<\/p>",
