Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chinese Defence Minister Admiral Dong Jun said his\nside has agreed to deepen military cooperation with Indonesia after\nmeeting with Indonesian Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt present, China-Indonesia defence cooperation is vastly different\ncompared to previous periods. Both in terms of depth and scope, we have\nachieved abundant results in various fields and at all levels,\u201d Dong Jun\nsaid after his arrival was welcomed by Sjafrie at the Ministry of\nDefence office in Central Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the media, Dong Jun said his side is committed to\npartnering with Indonesia in modernising the national defence\nsystem.<\/p>\n
According to him, this must be done so that Indonesia and China can\nbecome strong nations capable of deterring various threats in the\nregion.<\/p>\n
Not only in the field of modernising defence equipment, Dong Jun also\nconfirmed that the two countries will explore various potential areas of\ndefence cooperation to strengthen the position of Indonesia and China in\nASEAN and the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt can be said that the cooperation between the two countries has\nbroad prospects. Its quality and efficiency continue to improve,\u201d Dong\nJun explained.<\/p>\n
Therefore, Dong expressed hope that this strategic cooperation can\ncontinue to be well maintained for the benefit of Indonesia and\nChina.<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether with Minister Sjafrie, we are equally confident that under\nthe leadership and direction of the heads of state, we can elevate the\nrelationship between the two countries to a higher level. Thank you,\u201d\nDong Jun said.<\/p>\n
At the same time, Indonesian Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin\nwelcomed the various military cooperation plans to be carried out by\nIndonesia and China.<\/p>\n
Sjafrie expressed hope that this defence cooperation can further\nstrengthen the good relations between Indonesia and China, which have\nbeen established for 19 years.<\/p>\n
