Over 60 major Chinese firms will seek out potential Indonesian partners in the field of construction and mining through a four-day exhibition in Jakarta at the end of May.<\/p>\n
Vice chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Zhang Xiaolin told reporters on Wednesday that at the exhibition, called the China Build 2010, executives of the companies would introduce their businesses, products and technology in the fields of construction vehicles, project construction and contraction, mining machinery, production of building materials, and components and service suppliers.<\/p>\n
According to the council\u2019s press kit, the exhibitors will include state-owned China Road and Bridge Corporation, which operates in domestic and international contracting, China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation engaged in the international trade of machinery products and Shanghai Construction Group, whose achievements include the building of the longest steel-arch bridge in the world called the Lu Pu Bridge in Shanghai.<\/p>\n
Zhang said the exhibitors were keen not only to sell their products in the Indonesian market, but also to establish partnerships in direct investment because they considered Indonesia as a lucrative market with its great population of more than 240 million and land size of nearly two million square kilometers.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think there are many opportunities for Chinese firms who should not only sell their products here but also set up factories to produce locally,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Besides the CCPIT, the China International Contractors Association (Chinca), and the Chinese Embassy has also endorsed the exhibition. The exhibition has also received the full support from Indonesian stakeholders namely the Indonesian Ministry of Public Work, Indonesian Ministry of Industry and Indonesian Contractors Association (AKI) due to its large potential of gathering Chinese and Indonesian firms.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Chinese government will continue to encourage Chinese enterprises to invest and start business in Indonesia,\u201d said the Chinese embassy\u2019s minister counselor for economic and commercial affairs, Fang Qiuchen.<\/p>\n
Indonesia is currently China\u2019s fourth largest trading partner with a total two-way trade value of US$28.28 billion in 2009.<\/p>\n
Fang said that the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) effective since Jan.1 would create new business opportunities for companies of both countries.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope that through this event, the Indonesia construction industry will improve its service and benefits in the future,\u201d said vice-president of AKI Tri Widjajanto Joedosastro.<\/p>\n
The China Build 2010 will be held on May 26 to May 29 at the Jakarta International Exhibition in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
