Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that the Palestinian people have the right to be free from war and to peaceful development, stressing that the two-state solution remains the broadly recognised framework. He urged persistent international efforts towards a ceasefire, reconstruction and a comprehensive, lasting settlement, and noted Gaza’s status under the Board of Peace and the proposed International Stabilization Force, with several nations on board but Palestine excluded.

Beijing (ANTARA) – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that the
Palestinian people have the right to be free from war, just as others
around the world. ‘Turmoil and war are not the destiny of the
Palestinian people. Just as people in other parts of the world, the
Palestinian people also have a legitimate right to be free from war and
to enjoy peaceful development,’ Wang Yi said at a press conference on
‘China’s diplomacy policy and foreign relations’ in Beijing on
Sunday.

Palestine is currently in a period of recovery after two years of war
in Gaza that has killed more than 71,000 people, predominantly women and
children, and injured more than 171,000 since October 2023.

‘As a large country with responsibility, China will, as always,
support the just Palestinian struggle to defend its legitimate national
rights, and urge the international community to restore justice to the
Palestinian people,’ Wang Yi asserted.

The Gaza situation, Wang Yi said, touches on the boundaries of basic
international morality.

‘International efforts to push for a ceasefire in Gaza should be
welcomed, but to solidify the ceasefire, promote reconstruction, and
subsequently resolve the Palestinian issue comprehensively and
sustainably, continual efforts are required,’ he added.

Wang Yi said there is only one rational solution recognised widely to
resolve the Palestinian issue.

‘The solution is the ’two-state solution’. Any other arrangements or
the formation of new mechanisms should be to advance, not undermine, the
‘two-state solution’,’ he stated.

The international community, Wang Yi said, cannot accept if the
Palestinian problem is sidelined again.

‘The UN even has a greater responsibility to play a leading role in
this process,’ he added.

Currently, Gaza is ‘under’ the authority of the Board of Peace (BoP)
created by United States President Donald Trump.

This is due to a UN Security Council resolution on 17 November 2025
that gave powers to UN members and the BoP to form an International
Stabilization Force (ISF), so that Gaza is under a unified command.

ISF operates under the strategic guidance of the BoP and will be
funded through voluntary contributions from donors and funding sources
from the BoP and the government.

To date, there are countries that have joined the BoP including
Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Albania, Bahrain, Belarus, Bulgaria,
Cambodia, El Salvador, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Jordan,
Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Mongolia, Morocco, Pakistan, Paraguay,
Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam,
led by the United States, but excluding Palestine from membership.

A number of major European countries, such as France, Germany and the
United Kingdom, are not on the list. Additionally, other UN Security
Council members, including China and Russia, are not included.
",
