        "content": "<p>China insists on boat compensation<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AFP): China will insist on compensation from the<br>\nPhilippines for the sinking of a Chinese fishing boat in a<br>\ncollision with a Philippine navy vessel in the disputed South<br>\nChina Sea, diplomatic sources said on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>China alleges the Philippine vessel rammed the fishing vessel<br>\noff Scarborough Shoal on May 23.<\/p>\n<p>The Philippines has rejected demands for compensation, saying<br>\nthe two vessels bumped accidentally when the navy tried to arrest<br>\nthe Chinese for illegal fishing.<\/p>\n<p>One source said China was insisting the fishing boat would not<br>\nhave sunk from an accidental collision. China was also saying it<br>\nwas a very expensive boat, in an apparent bid to increase the<br>\namount of compensation. It was earlier reported China was seeking<br>\nUS$30,000 for the sunken vessel.<\/p>",
