        "content": "<p>China a boon for managers<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Thanks to China's rapid economic growth, Asia's<br>\nmanagers are expecting annual pay increases of up to sixty<br>\npercent, a recent study conducted by The World's Executive's<br>\nDigest says.<\/p>\n<p>The Hong Kong-based publication also says that \"executives<br>\nwith the best pay prospects are those in strategic regional<br>\npositions which include responsibility for the China market\".<\/p>\n<p>The survey, which was jointly conducted by global consulting<br>\nfirm the Corporate Resources Group, shows that \"the hottest<br>\nindustries for executives are telecommunications and fast-moving<br>\nconsumer goods.\"<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the study also offers encouraging salary<br>\nprojections for the region's urban professionals in other sectors<br>\nbesides telecommunications and consumer.<\/p>\n<p>\"...Managers and professionals can benefit from strong trends<br>\nthat are driving executive compensation and mobility in the<br>\nregion...the development of a strategic regional business<br>\nperspective, acceleration of infrastructure projects and<br>\nexpansion of consumer demand,\" the magazine says.<\/p>\n<p>The report also scrutinizes the level of salaries for<br>\nexecutives in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Tokyo's senior managers are the highest paid with annual gross<br>\nsalaries averaging US$154,525. They are followed by Hong Kong-<br>\nbased managers with $137,206 and those in Singapore with<br>\n$113,744.<\/p>\n<p>In Southeast Asia, Jakarta's managers are paid annually around<br>\n$61,106, which are slightly less than those in Kuala Lumpur with<br>\n$79,708.<\/p>\n<p>According to the survey, Jakarta's senior professionals are<br>\nrelatively better paid than those in Bangkok, Manila, Ho Chi Minh<br>\nCity and Beijing.<\/p>\n<p>The study, which also ranks the living qualities of the<br>\nworld's major cities, placed Jakarta in the 80th place, beating<br>\nManila (82nd), Bangkok (84th) and Ho Chi Minh City (90th).<\/p>\n<p>The Indonesian capital, however, ranked well below Singapore<br>\nwhich is ranked ninth in the world and Kuala Lumpur in the 52nd<br>\nplace.
