Technology does not have to be complex to benefit society. At the\nMayasari 3 Posyandu (Integrated Healthcare Centre) in Bandung Regency,\nWest Java, a team of lecturers from Muhammadiyah University (UM) Bandung\nis attempting to translate technology into a simple solution to help\ncommunity health workers and parents monitor toddler growth.<\/p>\n
Through a Community Service (PKM) programme, the team has introduced\na child-friendly toddler scale innovation based on the Internet of\nThings (IoT). This scale is connected to a digital dashboard.<\/p>\n
The innovation is paired with \u2018prophetic parenting\u2019 education,\nensuring that child growth monitoring does not rely solely on data but\nis also reinforced by parenting patterns within the family\nenvironment.<\/p>\n
The programme, titled \u201cEmpowering Posyandum through Innovation of\nChild-Friendly Toddler Scales Based on IoT and Prophetic Parenting\nCounselling at Posyandu Mayasari 3,\u201d is led by Dianti Eka Aprilia, a\nlecturer from the Informatics Engineering Department at UM Bandung. The\nprogramme is part of the Beginner Community Service Scheme, funded by\nKemdiktisaintek.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday (15\/09\/2026), during the testing of the IoT scales and\ntraining for health workers, Dianti stated that the developed innovation\nstemmed from the real needs of the partners. Before determining a\nsolution, the team conducted focus group discussions, service flow\nobservations, and needs analyses alongside the Mayasari 3 Posyandu\nworkers and village midwives on 20 July 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe main focus of this activity is to help realise Posyandu services\nthat are more efficient, child-friendly, and technology-based, while\nsimultaneously encouraging parental involvement in monitoring child\ndevelopment,\u201d Dianti said in a statement on Wednesday (16\/09\/2026).<\/p>\n
The PKM team consists of Dianti Eka Aprilia from the Informatics\nEngineering Department as chair, alongside Mulki Rezka Budi Pratama from\nthe Electrical Engineering Department and Dian Kusumawati from the Early\nChildhood Education Department. The team also involves students Sultan\nFadhilah Hilmiqashmal and Zahra Hariah Attin from Informatics\nEngineering, and Ridwan Romadlon from Electrical Engineering.<\/p>\n
One of the key innovations in the programme is the IoT-based toddler\nscale featuring a toy car design. This concept is not merely to make the\ntool look attractive, but is designed so that the weighing process feels\nmore comfortable and enjoyable for the child.<\/p>\n
What sets it apart is that the weighing results can be sent digitally\nto the Posyandu dashboard. Consequently, health workers do not need to\nrely entirely on manual recording, making the service process more\npractical and ensuring child growth data is documented more\nsystematically.<\/p>\n
The scale will eventually be integrated with \u2018Rasi Balita\u2019, a\nweb-based Posyandu dashboard used to record, store, and monitor toddler\ngrowth data digitally.<\/p>\n
According to Dianti, the integration of this technology is expected\nto help health workers operate more efficiently while making it easier\nfor parents to obtain information regarding their child\u2019s\ndevelopment.<\/p>\n
