JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Child abuse at a childcare facility or daycare
has occurred again, while the handling of a similar case at Daycare
Little Aresha in Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta City, is not yet complete. Now,
a child abuse case has taken place at Baby Preneur Daycare in Syiah
Kuala Subdistrict, Banda Aceh, allegedly committed by a caregiver with
the initials DS (24). The Coordination Team for Accelerating Development
(TKPP) in the Legal Sector, Sultan Muhammad Yus, stated that the
Department of Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control,
and Family Planning (DP3AP2KB) and the Department of Education and
Culture of Banda Aceh City have conducted outreach services to the
victim at the location. “Based on the assessment results and statements
from the management, the incident of violence against the victim
occurred several times by the perpetrator, who was the caregiver on duty
at the time,” said Sultan during a press conference at the Banda Aceh
City Government Office, Tuesday night (28/4/2026). Viral CCTV recordings
on social media show another caregiver present at the location when the
violence against the child was carried out. However, that caregiver did
not take preventive action or issue a reprimand for the behaviour that
occurred. He revealed that the CCTV system at the daycare can be
accessed by parents who entrust their children there. “We urge the
public not to disseminate content involving children, to protect their
privacy and best interests,” said Sultan. The daycare management has
dismissed the alleged perpetrator. In addition, two caregivers who were
at the location during the incident have also been temporarily suspended
for failing to properly carry out supervision duties. Based on
statements from the management, communication has been established
between the victim’s family and the relevant parties. The management
claims that the issue has been resolved amicably. Nevertheless, to date,
the management has not provided access to the victim’s parents’ contact
details to the government. As a result, efforts to provide direct
assistance are still ongoing. “The City Government continues to
prioritise child protection and ensures that every process runs in
accordance with applicable regulations,” said Sultan.
",
