Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, led a nationwide corn-planting drive spanning 3,035.89 hectares to bolster food security in the first quarter of 2026. The South Sumatra site served as the pilot, with high-level officials in attendance, equipment aid, a financing cooperation, and the inauguration of 57 Red and White Presisi Bridges to speed distribution and support local economies.

The Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit
Prabowo, reaffirmed the Bhayangkara Corps’ commitment to supporting the
national food security programme. This was demonstrated by a concrete
action: simultaneous corn planting on 3,035.89 hectares managed by the
regional police forces across Indonesia in the first quarter of
2026.

General Sigit personally led the corn-planting event from South
Sumatra, specifically on land behind the Serai Indah Housing Complex in
Ogan Ilir Regency, on Saturday 7 March 2026. He was accompanied by
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono and Bulog President Director
Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani (retired Lieutenant General).

Deputy Police Chief Dedi Prasetyo attended the event virtually from
Polda Metro Jaya. At the site, the Police Chief was accompanied by
several senior officers including Kabaintelkam Komjen Yuda Gustawan,
Dankorbrimob Komjen Ramdani Hidayat, Assistant to the Chief of Human
Resources Irjen Anwar, Head of Public Relations Irjen Johnny Eddizon
Isir, and the Head of the SSDM Polri’s Personnel and Training Brig.
Gen. Langgeng Purnomo.

Also present at the site were Governor of South Sumatra Herman Deru,
together with the Forkopimda including South Sumatra Police Chief Irjen
Sandi Nugroho, and II/Sriwijaya Military Area Commander Maj. Gen. Ujang
Darwis.

The arrival of the Police Chief and entourage was greeted with a
songket-wrapping ceremony. They then inspected an Agricultural Machinery
Exhibition (Alsintan).

The total area at the site for the Police Chief and entourage is 40
hectares. Of this, 20 hectares were prepared for simultaneous corn
planting. Previously, 10 hectares had been planted with corn, 8 hectares
with cassava and 2 hectares with vegetables. The total corn-planting
area in South Sumatra Police (Polda Sumsel) is 769.5 hectares.

The simultaneous corn-planting activity demonstrates that Polri is
not merely securing food distribution but is directly engaging in
production. The Police Chief, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, and
Bulog’s Director General also conducted an interactive dialogue via
video conference with several regional police heads, including West Java
Police Chief in Sumedang, Riau Police Chief in Pelalawan, and Central
Kalimantan Police Chief in Pulang Pisau, who were also planting corn in
their respective areas.

In his remarks, General Sigit stated that this simultaneous
corn-planting activity is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s
directive. He had briefed the President about the plan a few days
earlier.

“I asked him whether the programme should continue, and he ordered me
to continue. So of course this is his mandate, and we must implement it
properly,” General Sigit said at the site.

The Police Chief explained that this commitment is crucial as demand
for food, particularly corn, is rising, in line with other national
strategic programmes.

“This time the needs are greater because there is also the MBG (Makan
Bergizi Gratis) programme, a food programme requiring sufficient
livestock feed, so inevitably, besides ordinary needs, there is also
extra demand,” he said.

According to him, this will have a positive impact on the people’s
economy.

“It will also spur economic growth in the regions, particularly with
farmers becoming more motivated to till the land again and ensure that
the outputs are absorbed at fair prices,” added General Sigit.

In addition to planting corn, General Sigit, in this agenda, handed
over production equipment to support farmers’ operations. The aid
included 25 units of corn shelling machines, 8 units of drying machines,
and 2,000 food packages for local communities.

Polri also facilitated access to capital through the signing of a
Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between the Assistant to the Chief of HR and
the leadership of Bank Himbara.

Amid the agricultural programme, the Police Chief also inaugurated 57
Red-and-White Presisi Bridges built by the South Sumatra Police. The
bridges were built to connect isolated areas to accelerate the
distribution of logistics and agricultural produce. One of them is
Banyuasin Bridge, which has proved especially beneficial to residents,
particularly schoolchildren.

The event closed with a symbolic corn planting action by the Police
Chief and entourage using a corn seeder on the Ogan Ilir site, which is
the pilot project for the food security programme in South Sumatra.
",
