The incident occurred after\nthey received a tax bill of 768 million rupiah.<\/p>\n<p>The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) North Sumatra II Regional\nOffice (Kanwil) issued a statement regarding the matter. The office\nacknowledged the video and media coverage concerning a taxpayer\nrequesting that the account freeze be lifted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe incident did occur, and we must clarify that the taxpayer in\nquestion visited KPP Pratama Rantau Prapat to request an explanation\nregarding the account freezing carried out as part of debt collection\nfor outstanding tax obligations,\u201d said Kanwil DJP North Sumatra II Head\nLucas Hendrawan in an official statement on Monday, 16 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>According to Hendrawan, DJP staff at KPP Pratama Rantau Prapat\nreceived the taxpayer and provided explanations regarding the\ncalculation basis of tax obligations, including the inspection process\nand collection procedures carried out in accordance with applicable\nregulations.<\/p>\n<p>Hendrawan explained that under tax provisions, account freezing is an\nactive collection measure that may be implemented if an assessed tax\ndebt remains unpaid by the taxpayer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore reaching this stage, a series of collection procedures have\nbeen executed in accordance with regulations, beginning with warning\nnotices, the issuance of enforcement notices, and further collection\nactions as regulated under the Ministry of Finance Regulation Number 61\nof 2023 concerning Procedures for Tax Collection Implementation,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that KPP Pratama Rantau Prapat staff had communicated that\nthe account freeze can only be lifted if the conditions specified in the\nregulations are satisfied.
