        "content": "<p>Chemical linked to Thai illnesses<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK (AP): Aviation officials believe a chemical substance<br>\nfound buried beneath a provincial Thai airport that has caused<br>\nhundreds of people to feel ill may be a solvent used to remove<br>\npaint, local papers reported on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The reports countered initial suspicion the chemical was a<br>\ndefoliant used by the U.S. military.<\/p>\n<p>Thwaweesak Assaneewuthikorn, the director of the Hua Hin<br>\nairport, said scientists at the Pollution Control Department who<br>\nexamined samples of the chemical believe it is probably a type of<br>\npaint remover, The Nation reported.<\/p>\n<p>More than 150 construction workers became ill earlier this<br>\nweek from fumes emitted by the chemicals buried beneath a runway<br>\nthey were extending at an airport in Hua Hin, a seaside resort<br>\nsouth of Bangkok.<\/p>",
