        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 The Dr.\u00a0Cipto Mangunkusumo National Hospital (RSCM) has\ndisclosed the current condition of Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of\nthe Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS),\nfollowing an attack in which he was doused with caustic chemical.<\/p>\n<p>One of the consequences is significant vision impairment in his right\neye.<\/p>\n<p>Yoga Nara, Legal Manager and Public Relations Officer at RSCM, stated\nthat Andrie sustained a grade-three severity level acute chemical burn\nto his right eye.<\/p>\n<p>To address this condition, Andrie Yunus underwent tissue debridement\non his right eye as well as amniotic membrane transplantation to protect\nthe ocular surface and support the healing process.<\/p>\n<p>Andrie was brought to the RSCM Emergency Department in the early\nhours of Friday 13 March 2026 at approximately 00.00 WIB, presenting\nwith thermal and chemical burns to his face, neck, chest, back, both\narms, and eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Andrie sustained approximately 20 percent body surface area\nburns.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival at the Emergency Department, medical staff immediately\nconducted initial examinations and stabilisation procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Assessment using pH indicators revealed exposure to acidic chemical\nsubstances in the affected areas.<\/p>\n<p>As initial treatment, the medical team performed irrigation or\ncleansing of the exposed areas to reduce the chemical substance\u2019s\neffects and normalise tissue condition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe team consisted of ophthalmologists, reconstructive plastic\nsurgeons, and emergency medical personnel,\u201d Yoga explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTreatment provided included wound care, antibiotics,\nanti-inflammatory medication, vitamins, and treatment to maintain\ncontrolled intraocular pressure,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Yoga confirmed that Andrie Yunus\u2019s general condition has now\nstabilised and is not life-threatening.<\/p>\n<p>Medical management will continue in stages according to the patient\u2019s\nclinical progress.<\/p>",
