        "content": "<p>Cheating reporter sent to jail<\/p>\n<p>BANDA ACEH, Aceh: A senior journalist was given a 10-month<br>\nprison sentence by the local district court on Tuesday for<br>\ndefrauding a local businessman.<\/p>\n<p>Antara reported that Syarif Haris, 41, was found guilty of<br>\ncheating Ruslan B.N., director of PT Gasida Nusantara, out of Rp<br>\n105 million last October.<\/p>\n<p>The report did not name the publication Syarif works for but<br>\ndescribed him as deputy chairman of the Aceh chapter of the<br>\nAssociation of Indonesian Journalists.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutors had earlier accused him of extorting the<br>\nbusinessman but the court said there was no evidence of<br>\nextortion.<\/p>\n<p>Syarif, who maintains his innocence, said he would file an<br>\nappeal to the high court against the verdict.
