Charity event for Micko Protonema<\/p>\n
BANDUNG: A series of events themed Charity for Micko Protonema
\nhas been staged by artists, musicians and community members in
\nBandung since June 2005.<\/p>\n
Matdon, one of the organizing committee of these events, said
\nthat to raise funds for Micko, a singer of Protonema, one of
\nBandung's musical bands, various charity concerts have been held
\ntogether with the sales of art goods, musical instruments and
\nother merchandise items.<\/p>\n
\"Micko fainted and went into a coma in a hospital because of a
\nheart attack and a blood vessel disorder. The doctor recommended
\nheart surgery, which would have be very expensive. That's why we
\nare organizing these events specially for him,\" Matdon said.<\/p>\n
Micko is a Bandung musician and singer who has been successful
\nin Indonesia's musical arena. He is one of the founders of Java
\nJive, a band set up in 1988. Later Micko, born Wydiatmoko
\nNugroho, set up his own band, Protonema.<\/p>\n
The charity concert for Micko, held on June 19, 2003, saw the
\nparticipation of a great number of noted singers and famous
\nmusical groups from Bandung, such as Peterpan, \/Rif and Rida
\n(RSD). Well-known musician Sawung Jabo also had his acoustic
\nguitar auctioned at Fame Station, Jl. Sersan Bajuri.<\/p>\n
The organizing committee of these events has raised over Rp 84
\nmillion and the money has been spent on Micko's heart surgery.
\nThe committee is now raising more money by selling CDs of songs
\ncomposed by Micko and T-shirts to cover the expenses for Micko's
