This concrete step is marked by\nthe distribution of Starlink satellite-based internet device grants for\nthousands of public facilities in remote areas and blank-spot\nregions.<\/p>\n
The assistance was handed over symbolically by the Governor of\nCentral Kalimantan, Agustiar Sabran, at the Central Kalimantan Village\nCoordination Meeting (Rakordes) in Palangka Raya on Thursday\n(6\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
This grant programme is part of the Central Kalimantan Provincial\nGovernment\u2019s commitment to strengthening digital infrastructure while\naccelerating digital transformation to reach villages that have so far\nexperienced limited internet access.<\/p>\n
The Governor of Central Kalimantan, Agustiar Sabran, emphasised that\nequitable development is not only realised through physical\ninfrastructure development, but also by ensuring that all communities\nhave access to information and communication technology.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Central Kalimantan Provincial Government is committed to\nproviding internet access to remote villages. This Starlink device grant\nis not merely about providing a network, but also about opening access\nto education, health services, government services, and broader economic\nopportunities. With improved connectivity, we want to ensure that no\nvillage is left behind in digital transformation,\u201d said Governor\nAgustiar Sabran.<\/p>\n
According to Governor Agustiar Sabran, the availability of reliable\ninternet networks will be an important foundation for improving the\nquality of public services at the village level.<\/p>\n
Village governments are expected to be able to utilise digital\ntechnology to deliver administrative services that are faster, easier,\nand more transparent to the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope that these Starlink devices are truly utilised optimally by\nvillage governments. Make the internet a means of improving the quality\nof public services, strengthening village governance, and encouraging\nthe emergence of innovations that can improve community welfare,\u201d\nexplained Governor Agustiar Sabran.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Governor Agustiar Sabran said that equitable internet\naccess is also expected to open new economic opportunities for village\ncommunities through the use of digital technology, ranging from\npromoting regional superior products, developing micro, small, and\nmedium enterprises (MSMEs), to expanding access to digital markets.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Central Kalimantan Provincial Government continues to encourage\nsynergy between the provincial government, district\/city governments,\nand village governments so that the implementation of digital\ntransformation runs effectively and provides real benefits to the\ncommunity,\u201d added Governor Agustiar Sabran.<\/p>\n
In the initial phase, the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government\ndistributed Starlink device grants to 13 districts\/cities to be used by\nprimary schools (SD), junior high schools (SMP), and community health\ncentres (Puskesmas), particularly in areas that still experience limited\ninternet access.<\/p>\n
In the symbolic handover, the Sukamara Regency Government received 73\nStarlink device units, East Kotawaringin Regency 83 units, Gunung Mas\nRegency 72 units, Palangka Raya City Government 14 units, Katingan\nRegency 287 units, East Barito Regency 70 units, Seruyan Regency 131\nunits, West Kotawaringin Regency 176 units, South Barito Regency 93\nunits, Murung Raya Regency 104 units, Kapuas Regency 47 units, Pulang\nPisau Regency 87 units, and Lamandau Regency 170 units.<\/p>\n
All of these devices will be used to support the improvement of\neducation services, accelerate the digitalisation of learning, and\nimprove the quality of health services in each region.<\/p>\n
The presence of Starlink devices is also expected to overcome\nblank-spot areas while strengthening digital connectivity to the remote\ncorners of Central Kalimantan.<\/p>\n
