The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has\nreleased the weather forecast for Central Java, indicating that light\nrain is likely to hit 13 areas in the province today, 18 September 2026.\nNevertheless, the public is advised to remain alert to the potential for\nforest and land fires (karhutla) as well as the threat of tidal flooding\n(rob) in the northern coastal regions.<\/p>\n
Ferry Oktarisa, a forecaster at the BMKG Ahmad Yani Meteorological\nStation in Semarang, explained that weather in Central Java will\ngenerally be cloudy from morning to afternoon. However, from late\nafternoon into the early night, light rain is expected in mountainous\nareas, the central highlands, and parts of the northern coastal area\n(Pantura).<\/p>\n
\u201cRemain vigilant against forest and land fires, even though light\nrain is falling in many parts of Central Java. During this prolonged dry\nseason, many plants are dry and easily combustible,\u201d said Ferry Oktarisa\non Friday (18\/9).<\/p>\n
For other areas, the weather is predicted to remain cloudy throughout\nthe day. Winds will blow from the east to the south at speeds of 10-30\nkm\/h. Temperatures will range between 16-36 degrees Celsius with\nhumidity levels between 35-95 per cent. Ferry added that the air in the\nnorthern coastal region will feel more sweltering, as maximum\ntemperatures reach 36 degrees Celsius.<\/p>\n
In addition to land weather conditions, the BMKG Tanjung Emas\nMaritime Station in Semarang has also issued a warning regarding\nmaritime conditions. Forecaster Lessy Andari reported an increase in\ntidal heights (rob) in northern waters, with a maximum of 0.9 metres\nfrom the early hours until the morning.<\/p>\n
This condition is triggering tidal flooding in several northern\ncoastal areas, ranging from Brebes to Rembang. \u201cThis tidal flooding can\ndisrupt community activities such as transportation, cargo loading and\nunloading at ports, and inland aquaculture,\u201d explained Lessy.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, high waves between 1.25 to 2.5 metres are potential to\noccur in the region. BMKG warns that waves exceeding 1.25 metres pose a\nhigh risk to maritime activities, particularly for fishing boats and\nbarges, especially when wind speeds exceed 15 knots.
