The transformation includes the operation of electric taxis and\ntravel services, the development of public transport integration, and\nthe implementation of cashless payment systems at terminals. All these\nmeasures are directed towards delivering transport services that are\nmore modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n
The various services were officially launched by Central Java\nGovernor Ahmad Luthfi at the Grand Launching of the Central Java\nTransportation Transformation 2026 at the Provincial Transportation\nAgency (Dishub) office.<\/p>\n
During the event, Luthfi personally tried the electric taxi by riding\naround the Dishub office complex. He assessed that electric vehicles\noffer comfort while supporting the reduction of pollution and the use of\nfossil energy.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is very comfortable. I tried going around the office, the meter\njust needs to be pressed, there is no sound, no air pollution, and it\nsaves fossil energy,\u201d Luthfi said in a written statement on Monday\n(24\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
According to Luthfi, the use of renewable energy in the future will\nnot only be encouraged in the vehicle sector. The Central Java\nprovincial government has also begun utilising solar panels on a number\nof office buildings. This step is part of Central Java\u2019s support for the\ndevelopment of renewable energy and the green economy.<\/p>\n
When asked about plans to use electric vehicles for Bus Rapid Transit\n(BRT) in Central Java, Luthfi said the development is being studied. He\nstressed that transportation transformation must not stop at the\ndevelopment of applications or technology. Innovation must be able to\nanswer real problems faced by the public, especially regarding the\nmovement of people and goods.<\/p>\n
Head of the Central Java Provincial Transportation Agency Arif\nDjatmiko said the launch of electric taxis and electric travel services\nis one of eight innovations in the Central Java Transportation\nTransformation 2026. In addition to vehicle electrification, the\nprovincial government is promoting transformation through digitalisation\nand integration of transport services.<\/p>\n
One of these is the implementation of cashless payments at Type B\nTerminals. A trial has been conducted at Sukoharjo Terminal and it is\nplanned to be implemented at 22 Type B Terminals managed by the\nprovincial government. The system is designed so that payments can go\ndirectly to the regional treasury while strengthening transparency and\naccountability in terminal management.<\/p>\n
The Central Java Transportation Agency is also developing a digital\nmonitoring and operational supervision system for Type B Terminals. The\nsystem is used to strengthen data-based terminal management, including\nvehicle monitoring and operational reporting.<\/p>\n
Transformation is also being carried out on Trans Jateng services\nthrough collaboration with Gojek. The collaboration is aimed at\nintegrating public journeys from online motorcycle taxi services to\nTrans Jateng and onward services as first mile and last mile.<\/p>\n
\u201cNext year we will create a single ticket between Gojek and Trans\nJateng. So the first mile and last mile are all covered,\u201d Arif said.<\/p>\n
According to Central Java Transportation Agency data, the number of\nTrans Jateng users throughout 2025 reached around 10 million passengers.\nAs many as 53% of passengers are said to be users who switched from\nprivate vehicles to Trans Jateng. This shift is estimated to provide\npublic transport cost savings of up to around Rp 50 billion.<\/p>\n
The Central Java provincial government is also expanding the use of\nthe Multi Trip Card for Trans Jateng payments.
