The Central Java provincial government has convened a cross-sectoral
co-ordination meeting to strengthen preparations for the Eid holiday
exodus, with Governor Ahmad Luthfi requesting all regents and mayors,
alongside regional command forums (forkopimda), to solidify readiness in
their respective areas.

The meeting was held at the Gradhika Bhakti Praja building in
Semarang today, attended by Vice Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen, Central
Java Regional Secretary Sumarno, and regional leadership. The agenda
addressed sectoral preparedness, including infrastructure readiness,
basic commodity availability, disaster mitigation, and contingency
measures for vulnerable areas.

“This cross-sectoral meeting aims to align perspectives in
preparation for the outbound and return travel flows. We anticipate
approximately 17.3 million travellers entering Central Java this year,”
Luthfi stated in a written statement on Monday, 9 March 2026.

Preparatory measures already implemented by the provincial government
include operating unified command posts at the Central Java
Transportation Office, six regional infrastructure management posts
across the province, posts at 23 type B terminals, and mobile patrols in
congestion-prone locations including tourist attractions, busy
commercial areas, and markets.

Additional measures include installation of portable traffic signs;
deployment of 10 new CCTV points; implementation of free homecoming
travel assistance; and vehicle safety checks at 23 type B terminals,
along with the preparation of alternative routes. The governor noted
that road repairs, traffic sign installation, and street lighting
improvements are being accelerated, emphasising the critical importance
of ensuring smooth, pothole-free roads for safe travel.

Regarding essential commodity availability, Luthfi requested that
market operations and food task force inspections continue regularly. He
expressed concern over preventing shortages and hoarding of essential
items that could trigger price increases and inflation in the
region.

“We are expanding market operations; currently approximately 300
activities are being conducted across all districts and municipalities,”
he explained.

Readiness also encompasses energy supply, including liquefied
petroleum gas (LPG), fuel oil, and electricity. Pertamina has confirmed
that LPG and fuel stocks for Central Java are secure during Eid.
Similarly, state electricity company PLN has implemented measures to
ensure safe distribution, including providing public electric vehicle
charging stations.

Luthfi also instructed regents and mayors, alongside regional command
forums, to prepare for potential disasters during the Eid holiday
period.

“Gas supply is sufficient. I remind the public not to panic buy or
follow trends unnecessarily. Fuel stocks are very adequate; Vice
Governor Gus Yasin recently inspected the field, and Pertamina
representatives confirmed stocks are sufficient for the next two
months,” he said.

Meanwhile, Central Java Police Regional Commander Inspector General
Ribut Hari Wibowo stated that security and comfort are the top
priorities in welcoming the Eid celebrations. Operations will focus on
safety and hospitality.

Approximately 28,980 personnel have been mobilised for security
during the homecoming travel and Eid celebrations in Central Java,
comprising 22,000 police personnel, 1,189 military personnel, and 5,111
personnel from other related agencies. Tens of thousands of personnel
are deployed across various vital locations in Central Java.

“These include approximately 134 shopping centres, 45 terminals, 23
ports, 18 fishing ports, 16,300 mosques, 224 tourist attractions, and 48
stations. Additionally, there are 153 emergency posts, 78 health posts,
and 31 integrated posts,” he concluded.
",
