        "content": "<p>Semarang (ANTARA) \u2013 The Central Java branch of the Indonesian\nDemocratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) respects the legal process being\nconducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), which carried\nout a sting operation in which Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo is\nsuspected of being involved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a party that abides by its principles and upholds the rule of\nlaw, we place the law above all else and believe that law enforcement\ninstitutions will work professionally, transparently and fairly,\u201d\nCentral Java PDIP Regional Leadership Council chairman Dolfie said in\nSemarang on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Hamenang is a PDIP member who was nominated by the party in the 2024\nregional elections.<\/p>\n<p>He said the KPK\u2019s legal action in Klaten Regency was an opportunity\nto reaffirm the party\u2019s commitment and further strengthen the\nimplementation of good governance.<\/p>\n<p>PDIP, he said, continually instructs and reminds all members holding\npublic office to prioritise clean, integrity-driven government and\ncomply with all applicable laws and regulations.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the Central Java PDIP branch had also recommended that\nthe party\u2019s central leadership take steps to uphold the party\u2019s\nintegrity, including imposing firm organisational sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>He urged all civil servants in the Klaten Regency Government to\nensure that government operations and public services continue as normal\nand at full capacity.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK carried out a sting operation in Klaten Regency on 15 October\n2026, arresting Regent Hamenang, Ahmad Luthfi H. Rahmatullah, head of\nthe Central Java provincial representative office of the Audit Board of\nIndonesia (BPK), and 18 other people.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK also seized cash worth around Rp1.9 billion, including a blue\nbarrel allegedly used by Hamenang to hold or store proceeds of\ncorruption.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK said the sting operation involved five alleged corruption\nschemes, including procurement of goods and services, licensing,\ncollection fees, payments from regional government agencies or work\nunits, and payments to BPK officials to influence an audit.<\/p>",
