Semarang (ANTARA) - The Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi,\nemphasised that the essence of the 31st National Musabaqah Tilawatil\nQuran (MTQ) goes far beyond merely becoming a champion.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe participants\u2019 performances should be optimised. It is far\nremoved from any interests, and is more important than just being a\nwinner,\u201d he said in Semarang on Saturday night.<\/p>\n
He made these remarks during the opening of the 31st National MTQ,\nwhich took place at the Simpang Lima Field in Semarang.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe in our deepest hearts that all participants are champions\nbefore Allah SWT because they have read and practised the Al-Quran,\nwhich was officially opened tonight,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, Central Java being selected as the host for the\n31st National MTQ is a historic moment, echoing 47 years ago when the\nprovince hosted a similar event in 1979.<\/p>\n
\u201cPersonally, I am grateful to be one of the witnesses to the\nimplementation of the 31st National MTQ,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He stated that the National MTQ is not merely a competition for\nreading and memorising the Al-Quran, but carries the significance of a\npeople\u2019s festival that unites society across different religions and\nbackgrounds.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese leaders represent various regional communities with different\nbackgrounds. This shows that the MTQ does not belong solely to the\nMuslim community, but serves as a space for togetherness for all people\nin Indonesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Despite the uncertain geopolitical conditions, including ongoing\nwars, it is hoped that the National MTQ will radiate peace throughout\nIndonesia and the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis demonstrates that the spirit of the MTQ transcends the\ncompetition arena; there is a breath of togetherness, unity, and a\n\u2018spirit\u2019 towards the unity of the Indonesian nation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Also present at the opening of the 31st National MTQ were the\nCoordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs,\nPratikno, and the Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar.<\/p>\n
The 31st National MTQ is scheduled to take place from 11\u201320 September\n2021, with competitions held across 12 arenas throughout the city of\nSemarang.<\/p>\n
A total of 2,242 participants have been registered for the 31st\nNational MTQ, consisting of 1,751 main participants and 491\nreserves.<\/p>\n
