The assistance was handed over when Ahmad Luthfi visited the NTT\nstudents\u2019 boarding house on Jalan Pawiyatan Luhur Selatan III, Bendan\nDuwur, Gajahmungkur Subdistrict, Semarang City, on Monday (7\/9).<\/p>\n
During the occasion, Luthfi held a direct dialogue with student\nrepresentatives. He enquired about the condition of the students\u2019\nfamilies back in NTT, including parents who were still displaced and\nstruggling to receive aid due to access difficulties in a number of\naffected areas.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou are my children here. Whatever shortcomings and grievances the\nstudents and people of NTT face, I feel them too. Students in Central\nJava are my responsibility,\u201d said Ahmad Luthfi in a written statement on\nMonday (7\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
Luthfi said the Central Java Provincial Government had instructed the\nEducation Office, the Central Java National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas),\nand Bank Jateng to coordinate with universities. The coordination is\naimed at providing relief on education and accommodation costs for\naffected students.<\/p>\n
\u201cTell your parents back home that here in Central Java, you now have\nparents looking after you. I have also ordered the Education Office,\nBaznas and Bank Jateng to coordinate with all universities \u2014 we will ask\nfor waivers or cover tuition fees, as well as boarding costs for one to\nthree months,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to information from the NTT student group in Semarang City,\n172 students have been affected. They come from Manggarai Raya, Nagekeo,\nNgada, Ende and Maumere, and the number could still rise as data\ncollection continues.<\/p>\n
In addition to tuition and boarding assistance, the Central Java\nProvincial Government, through its Social Security programme, also\ndistributed 172 Social Safety Net (JPS) food packages. Each package is\nworth Rp 250,000, bringing the total food aid to around Rp 43\nmillion.<\/p>\n
During the dialogue, Maria Riani Nake, a student at Untag Semarang,\nwas moved to tears. She could not hold back her crying when she thought\nof the condition of her parents and family back home, while she and her\nolder and younger siblings still had to continue their studies in\nSemarang.<\/p>\n
In that moment, Ahmad Luthfi comforted her and offered encouragement\nto keep studying with spirit.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was touched, because the Governor of Central Java has treated me\nlike his own child,\u201d said Maria.<\/p>\n
Alfonsius Joivan Sar, a student from South Elar Subdistrict, East\nManggarai, recounted that his home area is difficult to access, and even\naid from various regions has struggled to reach his village. His family\nis currently still sheltering at a displacement post because their house\nis not yet fit for habitation.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy friends from NTT and I would like to thank the Governor of\nCentral Java for visiting and providing us with assistance \u2014 money for\ntuition fees and boarding,\u201d said Armansyah, a law student at Semarang\nState University.<\/p>\n
Yuvensius Daseli, a student at Untag, added that according to data,\nthere are around 300 students from NTT in Semarang City, spread across\nthe various universities. He expressed his gratitude for the attention\nand care shown by Governor Ahmad Luthfi and the Central Java Provincial\nGovernment.<\/p>\n
\u201cHonestly, we were moved by what the Governor said. We were deeply\ntouched when the Governor said directly that he would be our parent\nhere. The data I compiled shows almost 300 students in Semarang alone,\u201d\nsaid Yuvensius.<\/p>\n
