The Speaker of the Central Java Regional House of Representatives\n(DPRD), Sumanto, has responded to his name appearing in a viral post\ncontaining a list of people accused of involvement in corruption related\nto the management of the Free Nutritious Meal programme (MBG). Sumanto\nclaims he does not know former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition\nAgency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, who is now a suspect.<\/p>\n
The news went viral on social media after being uploaded by the\nThreads account @suzan18076<\/span>. The account revealed the\nnames of people allegedly involved in the MBG corruption. The post\nmentioned several names of politicians and officials. Within that list,\nthe name of the Speaker of the Central Java DPRD was written.<\/p>\n When asked for confirmation, Sumanto denied the news. He admitted he\nhas no connection with Sony Sonjaya, who is now a suspect in the alleged\nMBG corruption case. \u201cThe circulating information is completely untrue.\nThe MBG matter is entirely under the central government\u2019s authority. I\nalso do not know Mr.\u00a0Sony Sanjaya,\u201d Sumanto said in a written\nstatement.<\/p>\n He denied being among the politicians and officials accused of\ninvolvement in determining SPPG points in several regions. \u201cThe\nimplementation of the MBG programme is the authority of the central\ngovernment through the appointed agency. Therefore, this accusation has\nno basis,\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n Sumanto admitted he was surprised when the position of Central Java\nDPRD Speaker was linked to the case, which is now a matter of public\nattention. He believes that the mention of his position in various\nsocial media posts and chain messages is not based on accountable facts.\n\u201cUp to now, I have never communicated with or had a working relationship\nwith Sony Sonjaya,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Sumanto then assessed that the accusations directed at him were\nmerely speculation without clear evidence. He also urged the public not\nto easily believe unverified information. \u201cEspecially that which\ncirculates through social media and chat applications,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n According to him, the spread of inaccurate information has the\npotential to cause misunderstandings and harm parties whose names are\nused without basis. \u201cI emphasise once again, I am not involved and I do\nnot know the person concerned.
