Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian\ncontingent Todotua Pasaribu has backed efforts to strengthen the\nnational field hockey team through the naturalisation of athletes and\nthe addition of coaches in order to boost the competitiveness of the Red\nand White squad ahead of the 2026 Asian Games.<\/p>\n
The CdM conveyed this support during a visit to the national field\nhockey team and discussions with officials of the Central Board of the\nIndonesian Hockey Federation (PP FHI).<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are several naturalised athletes we are considering, and also\nseveral coaches we will try to accommodate to strengthen the hockey\nteam,\u201d the CdM said at the hockey pitch at Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta,\non Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The CdM said the Indonesian men\u2019s and women\u2019s hockey teams will be\nreinforced by around 48 personnel consisting of athletes, coaches and\nofficials. All of these components will be prepared as thoroughly as\npossible so they can go through the series of matches optimally.<\/p>\n
According to Yasser, the presence of naturalised players is expected\nto raise the quality of the Indonesian national hockey team,\nparticularly when facing strong Asian nations that have long dominated\nthe field hockey discipline.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlhamdulillah, today we are grateful to be visited by the CdM and\nthat he is giving his support. There is one coach who has been supported\nto travel because he contributes greatly to the team, and there is also\na player in the naturalisation process who has been supported by his\nteam,\u201d Yasser said.<\/p>\n
The Indonesian national hockey team is currently preparing to hold a\ntraining camp in Taipei, with departure scheduled for Sunday (26\/7).<\/p>\n
\u201cSo our preparations have continued after the SEA Games in Thailand,\nBangkok. We proceeded with a long-term national training camp to face\nthe qualification rounds in March and April,\u201d Yasser said.<\/p>\n
