(CDC) will<br>\norganize a billion dollar venture capital fund to invest in four<br>\nSoutheast Asian countries hit by currency crises, a Philippine<br>\nsubsidiary of the firm said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The fund will funnel investments into the Philippines,<br>\nMalaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, the three Southeast Asian<br>\ncountries most affected by the currency crisis, said Joseph<br>\nTseng, president of CDC subsidiary Sino-Philippines Asset<br>\nManagement Inc.<\/p>\n<p>A separate holding company would be organized to handle the<br>\nfund, he added.<\/p>\n<p>The fund will have an initial capital of $650 million but will<br>\neventually be increased to one billion dollars.<\/p>\n<p>The venture capital fund, administrated by CDC which is<br>\ncontrolled by Taiwan's ruling Kuomintang party, was set up after<br>\na delegation of Taiwan businessmen and government officials<br>\nvisited countries affected by the regional financial crisis.<\/p>",
