        "content": "<p>Cataracts cure not popular<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Health Minister Sujudi estimates that, of the<br>\n250 new cataract patients in Indonesia each year, only 50 can<br>\nafford to undergo surgery for the condition.<\/p>\n<p>The minister says there are now 1.6 million Indonesians<br>\nsuffering from cataracts who have not undergone any form of<br>\nsurgery.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the opening of the eighth International Conference<br>\non Cataracts in Bali on Friday evening, Sujudi said that the<br>\nimplant method of cataract treatment is not popular in Indonesia<br>\nbecause it is expensive. Only five percent of Indonesians<br>\nundergoing cataract surgery can afford the implant operation, he<br>\nadded, as quoted by Antara.<\/p>\n<p>Experts from the United States, Japan, Australia, Singapore,<br>\nIndia, Malaysia and Indonesia are discussing 25 papers at the<br>\nthree-day conference.
