        "content": "<p>CAT to be split into two<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK: The Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT) will<br>\nsplit into separate telecommunications and postal companies next<br>\nmonth as part of a privatization plan, a report in The Nation<br>\nnewspaper said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The plan was approved on Wednesday by the State Enterprise<br>\nPolicy Committee (SEPC), the report said.<\/p>\n<p>CAT Telecom is to oversee existing voice and data services,<br>\nincluding international call handling, while Thailand Post will<br>\nremain a wholly state-owned body overseeing postal services,<br>\naccording to the report.<\/p>\n<p>CAT Telecom will undertake preparations for an initial public<br>\noffering and listing on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the SEPC Somkid<br>\nJatusripitak was quoted as saying the listing was likely to draw<br>\nforeign investor interest.  -AFP<\/p>",
