The Cartenz Peace Operation Task Force has apprehended Ferly Wesabla,\nalias Ferlin (21), a member of the Kodap XVI Yahukimo Armed Criminal\nGroup (KKB) who escaped from Wamena Prison.<\/p>\n
According to Cartenz Peace Operation Public Affairs Chief Senior\nCommissioner Yusuf Sutejo, the inmate was captured at a residential\ncomplex in Dekai, Yahukimo, Papua Pegunungan, on Monday 16 March at\napproximately 17.50 WIT (Western Indonesian Time).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe arrest was carried out after officials obtained information\nregarding the suspect\u2019s whereabouts in the area,\u201d Sutejo stated in a\nwritten statement on Tuesday 17 March.<\/p>\n
Based on the investigation, the suspect was observed riding a\nmotorcycle towards his family home in the Ekshelon II area. When\nofficers attempted to arrest him, he tried to flee and hide in nearby\nbushes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe suspect attempted to escape and hide in the scrubland\nsurrounding the location. However, officers successfully pursued and\neventually apprehended him,\u201d Sutejo explained.<\/p>\n
Wesabla was one of seven inmates who escaped from Wamena Class IIB\nPrison on Tuesday 25 February 2025. He is also affiliated with the Kodap\nXVI Yahukimo Armed Criminal Group, Yalennang Battalion. His escape was\ncoordinated with Penias Heluka, alias Kopi Tua, a KKB Yahukimo leader,\nas well as Nelis Helika bin Hendrik Heluka, Rio Elopere bin Jani\nElopere, Ariel Sonyap alias Simon Sonyap, Segius Asso, and Welinton\nKogoya alias Ula. Welinton Kogoya was recaptured immediately by officers\nnear the prison.<\/p>\n
According to his criminal record, Wesabla was involved in the 2024\nmurder of Bripda Oktovianus Buara, a member of Yahukimo Police, and was\nconvicted by court.<\/p>\n
The suspect is currently detained at Yahukimo Police Station for\nfurther investigation. Authorities are also coordinating with Wamena\nClass IIB Prison regarding the mechanism for returning the inmate to the\nfacility.<\/p>\n
