Istanbul (ANTARA) - The Turkish Embassy in Mexico has urged its\ncitizens to increase vigilance following federal security operations and\nunrest in several Mexican states.<\/p>\n
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the embassy\nsaid it was closely monitoring developments that unfolded on Sunday in\nthe states of Jalisco, Michoac\u00e1n, Guanajuato, Tamaulipas,\nAguascalientes, and Zacatecas.<\/p>\n
The embassy urged Turkish nationals to remain vigilant, take maximum\nsecurity precautions, and comply with directives issued by local\nauthorities. It also made an emergency hotline available should\nassistance be required.<\/p>\n
Previously, Mexican federal security forces on Sunday (22 February)\nlaunched a military operation targeting the Jalisco New Generation\nCartel (CJNG) in the city of Tapalpa, approximately 130 kilometres south\nof Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco state. Reports indicated that the\ncartel\u2019s leader, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias \u201cEl Mencho,\u201d was\nkilled during the operation.<\/p>\n
In the aftermath, a number of roadblocks as well as the burning of\nvehicles and businesses were reported in Jalisco and several other\nstates, believed to be retaliatory actions by the criminal\norganisation.<\/p>\n
The Jalisco state government urged residents to remain at home, avoid\nusing public transport, and activated a \u201cred alert\u201d status in response\nto threats to public safety.<\/p>\n
In recent days, an escalation of violence has been reported across\nseveral regions of Mexico.<\/p>\n
