The incident occurred only hours after a similar\nevent affecting another ship in this strategic shipping corridor,\naccording to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).<\/p>\n<p>UKMTO received a report that a bulk carrier was struck by an unknown\nprojectile approximately 50 nautical miles (around 93 kilometres)\nnorth-west of Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).<\/p>\n<p>After being struck by the projectile, the vessel\u2019s captain\nsubsequently reported the incident to the British-based maritime\nsecurity monitoring body.<\/p>\n<p>There were no reports of environmental damage. The crew was reported\nsafe with no injuries, according to the notification.<\/p>\n<p>The competent authorities have launched an investigation. Vessels\ntransiting the area have also been advised to exercise caution and\nreport any suspicious activity.<\/p>\n<p>The latest incident occurred following another report earlier the\nsame day concerning a cargo ship that was hit by an unknown projectile\nin this strategic waterway.<\/p>\n<p>The Strait of Hormuz is traversed by approximately 20 million barrels\nof oil daily.
