        "content": "<p>A deadly accident occurred in Oesapa Barat Village, Kelapa Lima\nDistrict, Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). A Honda Brio car with\nlicense plate number DD 1722 BN overturned after hitting a roadside\nbarrier.<\/p>\n<p>A woman from Bandung Regency, West Java, died in the single-vehicle\naccident which occurred at around 03:30 local time on Sunday (May 17,\n2026). In addition to the fatality, the incident also resulted in five\nother people being injured.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the victims were passengers in the car. It was a single-vehicle\naccident,\u201d said Head of Traffic Unit at Kupang City Police, AKP Ade\nTriken Deayomi, to detikBali on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe unfortunate incident resulted in one person dead and five others\ninjured,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Triken said that the red car, driven by Fatmawati Syam (34), was\ninitially traveling from the Kelapa Lima sub-district office towards\nOesapa Kecil Elementary School. According to him, the car was traveling\nat high speed.<\/p>\n<p>While passing through the location, Fatmawati is suspected of losing\ncontrol after turning the steering wheel to the left to avoid a vehicle\nin front of her. Suddenly, the car she was driving hit a roadside\nbarrier, crashed into a fence, then bounced back and overturned.<\/p>\n<p>The injured passengers were immediately rushed to several hospitals\nin Kupang City, including Siloam Kupang Hospital, Kartini Kupang\nHospital, Bhayangkara Titus Uly Kupang Hospital, and WZ Johanes Kupang\nRegional General Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>According to Triken, one passenger named Mia Lestari (32) died after\nbeing treated at WZ Johanes Kupang Regional General Hospital. It is\nknown that Mia suffered a head injury.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Fatmawati suffered minor injuries and bruises on several\nparts of her body and is still undergoing medical treatment. The other\nvictims suffered minor to moderate injuries such as abrasions, swelling,\nbruises, and lacerations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is suspected that the driver was under the influence of alcohol\nwhile driving,\u201d Triken added.<\/p>",
