Car crashes kill eight in C. Java<\/p>\n
SEMARANG: Two families were killed in separate traffic
\naccidents along Central Java's northern coast early Saturday
\nmorning.<\/p>\n
Antara reported that a family of four died when the Kijang
\nvan, license plate number H 8646 DS, they were riding collided
\nhead-on with a box truck on Kademan highway in Tulis district,
\nBatang, 100 kilometers west of provincial capital Semarang. Two
\nothers were seriously injured in the accident.<\/p>\n
Another deadly car crash took place on the highway connecting
\nSemarang and Demak, involving a Panther van and a produce truck
\ncarrying chili. Sumanto, 25, his wife Sulastri, 25, their three-
\nmonth-old baby Tito Ardiyanto, and the van's driver Sugiyono, 40,
\ndied instantly, while two other passengers Riyanto, 43, and
\nTiyadi, 43, were seriously wounded.<\/p>\n
The survivors were rushed to Sultan Agung Hospital in
\nSemarang, while the bodies of the victims were taken to Kariadi

SINGAPORE: Indonesian Defense Minister Matori Abdul Jalil was
\nin intensive care in a Singapore hospital on Saturday after a
\nmild stroke.<\/p>\n
Matori, 61, was unconscious when he arrived at Mount Elizabeth
\nHospital but has since regained consciousness, said Chalief
\nAkbar, the Indonesian Embassy's head of information.<\/p>\n
\"His condition is improving,\" he added.<\/p>\n
Matori checked into an army hospital in central Jakarta last
\nWednesday because he felt very tired after making several trips
\nwithin the country, Indonesian media reports said. He had the
\nstroke on Monday and arrived in Singapore by air ambulance
