        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2014 Rising clothing prices ahead of Idul Fitri have led some\nresidents to seek alternative solutions to meet their Lebaran fashion\nneeds.<\/p>\n<p>One popular approach is hunting for thrifted clothing at Pasar Senen\nin Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s much cheaper. With 100,000 rupiahs I can get three outfits. For\nt-shirts, some are only 20,000 rupiahs each, and blouses are also\naffordable,\u201d said Usi (29), a private sector employee from Bekasi, when\nencountered at Pasar Senen on Wednesday (11 March 2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I buy at a mall, a single dress can cost 300,000 rupiahs or even\nmore. Here I can get a dress for around 70,000 to 100,000 rupiahs,\u201d she\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>Block III, fifth floor of Pasar Senen was bustling with visitors\nhunting for clothing ahead of Lebaran on Wednesday afternoon. The narrow\nlanes between thrift clothing stalls were busy with shoppers rummaging\nthrough piles of garments.<\/p>\n<p>Some stalls are only about 2x1 metres, whilst larger ones are\napproximately 4x3 metres.<\/p>\n<p>Various types of clothing are sold at this location, ranging from\nt-shirts, shirts, skirts, trousers, to jackets and hoodies.<\/p>\n<p>Within seconds, buyers crowd around stalls to be first to select\nclothing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything is 20,000 rupiahs! Just choose!\u201d shouted a vendor to\npassing customers.<\/p>\n<p>At another stall, the vendor offered cheaper bulk purchase\npackages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTake three for 50,000 rupiahs!\u201d shouted another trader.<\/p>\n<p>The hot and crowded market atmosphere does not dampen shoppers\u2019\nenthusiasm to continue searching for wearable clothing.<\/p>\n<p>For some parents, thrifting has become a way to reduce household\nspending.<\/p>\n<p>Putri (37), a housewife from Depok, said she frequently visits Pasar\nSenen to buy clothing for her children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChildren\u2019s clothing usually costs between 20,000 and 50,000 rupiahs\nper item,\u201d said Putri.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, this price is significantly cheaper than new\nclothing at shops.<\/p>",
