        "content": "<p>Capital inflow sustained<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (Reuter): The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects<br>\ncapital inflows into four emerging markets in Southeast Asia to<br>\nbe sustained in the coming years, a working paper released said<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>IMF consultant Linda Koenig said Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand<br>\nand the Philippines started posting capital account surpluses<br>\nsince the early 1990s after they initiated economic reform<br>\nprograms.<\/p>\n<p>The surpluses helped the economies to stay buoyant during the<br>\nfinancial and political turbulence earlier in the decade.<\/p>\n<p>\"In view of these countries' continued strong performance,<br>\nsizable inflows of long-term loans and direct portfolio<br>\ninvestments should continue for some time, provided sound<br>\nmacroeconomic policies continue to be pursued,\" Koenig said in<br>\nher paper.<\/p>",
