JAKARTA (JP): Four informal leaders have emerged as the strongest
\ncandidates to become Indonesia's next president, not only according
\nto a poll commissioned by The Jakarta Post, but also confirmed by
\nother surveys.<\/p>\n
The four -- Abdurrahman Wahid, Megawati Soekarnoputri, Amien Rais
\nand Sultan Hamengkubuwono X -- were also brought together by student
\nleaders last month to the residence of Abdurrahman Wahid in Ciganjur
\ndistrict in South Jakarta to come up with a joint statement regarding
\ntheir view of the state of the nation.<\/p>\n
The poll asks 1,250 respondents to list the advantages and
\nshortcomings of the four figures.<\/p>\n
