        "content": "<p>Canberra rapped in Corby trial<\/p>\n<p>DENPASAR, Bali: A lawyer representing an Australian woman<br>\nconvicted of drug smuggling accused Canberra of refusing to<br>\nprovide immunity for key witnesses who could help secure his<br>\nclient's release.<\/p>\n<p>Hotman Paris Hutapea, the lawyer for 28-year-old Schapelle<br>\nLeigh Corby, said on Monday Australia's lack of support would<br>\nprevent him from presenting about 10 witnesses who could provide<br>\ncrucial testimony on Corby's behalf.<\/p>\n<p>\"At least three of the witnesses have asked for immunity as a<br>\ncondition for their agreeing to testify,\" Hotman said.<\/p>\n<p>One of the witnesses, identified by Hotman as Ronny Viganza,<br>\nis wanted by the Australian Federal Police. According to the<br>\nlawyer, Viganza is willing to claim possession of the 4.1<br>\nkilograms of marijuana Bali Police found in Corby's baggage on<br>\nOct. 8 last year.<\/p>\n<p>Corby was sentenced to 20 years in jail, but the provincial<br>\nhigh court has granted her request for a retrial to hear<br>\nadditional witnesses.
