        "content": "<p>Canada, the United States, and Mexico are continuing discussions on\nthe future of free trade across North America in line with previous\ndeadlines, Canadian Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc\nsaid on Wednesday. The three countries met virtually on the same day to\nformally review the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).\nDuring the forum, the US stated its objection to extending the free\ntrade deal. Nevertheless, the agreement will remain in force until at\nleast 2036 while undergoing annual reviews. \u201cWe agreed on the importance\nof continuing our discussions and identifying ways to ensure the trade\nand investment framework between Canada, the United States, and Mexico\ncontinues to support North American prosperity and competitiveness,\u201d\nLeBlanc said, as quoted by Global Affairs Canada. Ottawa will continue\nnegotiations with Washington regarding sectoral levies on Canadian\naluminium, automobiles, lumber, and steel, LeBlanc added, expressing his\nconfidence that Canada is entering the talks from a position of\nstrength. \u201cWe look forward to further cooperation with the United States\nand Mexico in the weeks and months ahead as we work together to\nstrengthen shared economic prosperity,\u201d LeBlanc continued.
