        "content": "<p>Cambodia poised for ASEAN: Goh<\/p>\n<p>PHNOM PENH (Reuter): Cambodia was on track to join the<br>\nAssociation of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in July next year,<br>\nSingapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\"I think Cambodia will probably be ahead of Laos and Myanmar<br>\n(Burma),\" Goh, referring to two other countries with ASEAN<br>\nobserver status, said at the end of a two-day visit to Cambodia.<\/p>\n<p>Cambodia had made progress towards rehabilitation, Goh said.<br>\nBut he added that he still had some lingering concerns over<br>\npolitical stability in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\"The message the Cambodian government has to put across is<br>\nthat...whatever happens in the upcoming elections, the ruling<br>\ngovernment will do a lot for foreign investors,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore is Cambodia's leading trading partner, with more<br>\nthan $350 million in investment in the first eight months of<br>\n1996, said Cambodia's Minister of Commerce, Cham Prasidh.<\/p>",
