Cambodia details border violations<\/p>\n
PHNOM PENH (Reuters): Cambodia's cointerior ministers have for
\nthe first time documented evidence of territorial encroachments
\ninto Cambodia by neighboring Thailand and Vietnam.<\/p>\n
In two letters sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and
\nobtained by Reuters on Tuesday, the ministers detailed several
\ncases of boundary violations by both countries.<\/p>\n
\"We want to protect our territory, but we don't want to use
\nviolence against our neighbors\", interior ministry spokesman Gen.
\nKhieu Sopheak said.<\/p>\n
The letters accuse Vietnam of violating Cambodian territory in
\nthe provinces of Takeo and Prey Veng, in the country's south and
\nsoutheast, in late May and June this year. The statement said
\nthey received information from the provincial authorities that
\nboundary stakes had been moved inside Cambodia.<\/p>\n
In a second letter, the Thai authorities are accused of moving
\nboundary delineation markers in Banteay Meanchey and Pursat
\nprovinces in northwestern Cambodia.<\/p>",
