        "content": "<p>Caltex moves to Singapore<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE (DPA): U.S. giant Caltex Petroleum Corporation is<br>\nmoving its global headquarters from Dallas, Texas, to Singapore,<br>\nthe company announced Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Caltex would be the first multinational company to establish<br>\nits corporate base in the city-state, officials in Singapore<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The shift came out of a company reorganization in June aimed<br>\nat raising efficiency, Caltex said.<\/p>\n<p>\"The move to Singapore will position us centrally in the area<br>\nwhere we do most of our business, and allows us to be closer to<br>\nour customers and serve them more effectively,\" Caltex chairman<br>\nDavid Law-Smith said.<\/p>\n<p>The company's restructuring was in response to \"a growing<br>\nworldwide deregulation of the markets for petroleum products\",<br>\nCaltex said in a news statement Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The new headquarters is slated to be in place by March 1999.<br>\nMost of Caltex's corporate staff, including Law-Smith and 14<br>\nother executives, are to relocate to Singapore.<\/p>",
