Ben-Gvir hinted that Tel Aviv \u2018may act alone\u2019 against\nTehran.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018America is very naive if it thinks Iran will abandon its nuclear\nprogramme and give up its dream of destroying Israel,\u2019 the hardline\nIsraeli minister said in an interview with Israel\u2019s Channel 7, as\nreported by Anadolu Agency on Wednesday (24\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It is Israel\u2019s responsibility to confront this Iranian threat and\nact alone against it,\u2019 he stressed.<\/p>\n<p>The minister, known for being provocative and controversial, said\nthere is \u2018no circumstance\u2019 that can force Israel to work \u2018according to\nthe orders of a friend, even if that friend is truly great\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Disputes have recently emerged between the US and Israel over Tel\nAviv\u2019s attacks in Lebanon, which it claims target Hezbollah, while\nnegotiations are underway between Washington and Tehran to reach a\nlasting peace agreement.<\/p>\n<p>The US and Israel accuse Iran of having a nuclear and missile\nprogramme, which they consider a threat to Tel Aviv and regional\ncountries allied with Washington.<\/p>\n<p>However, Tehran insists its nuclear programme is peaceful and asserts\nit has no intention of developing nuclear weapons or threatening other\nnations.<\/p>\n<p>The US and Israel waged war against Iran on 28 February, launching\nlarge-scale attacks against the Shia nation. The attacks triggered a\nwave of retaliatory strikes from Tehran, targeting Israel and US\nmilitary assets in Middle Eastern countries.<\/p>\n<p>Fighting has been halted since 8 April under a ceasefire mediated by\nPakistan.<\/p>\n<p>The ceasefire was marked by various exchanges of attacks between the\nUS and Iran, as well as Israel, before a preliminary peace agreement was\nreached in June.<\/p>\n<p>US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian\nelectronically signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 17 June.\nThe MoU is intended to bring about a lasting peace agreement between the\ntwo sides.<\/p>",
