Muhaimin Iskandar, the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, has observed that implementing work from home (WFH) in government centres has significantly reduced traffic congestion and fuel consumption. He emphasised the need for ongoing monitoring to ensure productivity levels among civil servants remain high. However, WFH does not apply to public service personnel, who must continue working as per public needs.

Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment (Menko PM) Muhaimin
Iskandar, or Cak Imin, has revealed the results of his monitoring of
work from home (WFH) implementation in several government centres. Cak
Imin stated that WFH is effective in reducing fuel consumption. “Yes,
earlier I monitored WFH in government centres, and indeed the traffic is
smooth, with no build-ups or congestion that consumes large amounts of
fuel. This means WFH is effective in reducing fuel consumption,” Cak
Imin told reporters at the PKB DPP office in Central Jakarta on Friday
(10/4/2026). Cak Imin noted that control over the productivity levels of
employees or civil servants (ASN) must continue to be carried out. This,
he said, is necessary to ensure that the productivity of employees
remains maintained. “Now, for the WFH that has been decided, the
question is how to control productivity so that employees and all
parties opting for WFH maintain their productivity,” he said. Cak Imin
then emphasised that there is no WFH for employees and ASN working in
public services. They must continue working according to public needs.
“For employees or ASN in public services, there is no WFH; they must
work according to public service requirements,” he said.
",
