Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has given special\nattention to ensuring that healthcare services for the public are\nprovided to the maximum extent possible, even in Indonesia\u2019s outermost\nregions.<\/p>\n
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, when contacted from Jakarta on\nSaturday, said that President Prabowo headed directly to the Miangas\nHealth Centre to discuss matters with health workers after landing on\nMiangas Island, North Sulawesi, on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the inspection, the President discussed various healthcare\nservice needs with the health workers so that the people on this\noutermost island can receive maximum services,\u201d Teddy stated.<\/p>\n
Miangas Island is Indonesia\u2019s northernmost outermost region,\nbordering the Philippines.<\/p>\n
Teddy explained that after discussing with the health workers and\nnoting their various needs, the President decided that renovations would\nimmediately be carried out on the healthcare facilities that have not\nbeen repaired for decades.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn addition, the government will provide ambulances, add doctors and\nnurses, and provide professional allowances for health workers serving\nthere,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Miangas Health Centre is the main healthcare facility serving the\nentire community in that island region, so all its needs must be\nrealised as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n
During the visit, the President also greeted a pregnant woman who was\nundergoing a health check-up at the health centre.<\/p>\n
The Head of the Miangas Health Centre, Dr Cefrilia Pesik, said that\nPresident Prabowo\u2019s visit was an opportunity for health workers to\ndirectly convey the conditions and healthcare service needs in that RI\nborder region.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are several things that have been heard by the President,\nincluding the state of the health centre and what is needed at our\nhealth centre. Hopefully, the President and the Minister of Health can\nfulfil our requests for the needs at the Miangas Health Centre,\u201d Dr\nCefrilia stated.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, one of the nurses who has been actively serving for 35\nyears on Miangas Island, Albert Nusa, explained that healthcare services\nin the outermost region are running well.<\/p>\n
However, according to him, there are still several challenges faced,\nparticularly regarding the limited number of health workers and the\nprocess of referring emergency patients.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf there is an emergency patient, we have to handle it on site. If\nit requires hospital treatment, then it certainly requires facilities.\nIf the ship comes only once a week, then the challenge we face is the\nurgency,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In addition, Albert also conveyed the need for supporting healthcare\nfacilities, from ambulances for patient referrals to vaccine\nstorage.<\/p>\n
