Kalimantan short on teachers<\/p>\n<p>PALANGKA RAYA, Central Kalimantan: Central Kalimantan is in<br>\ndire need of 7,125 elementary school teachers, an official at the<br>\nprovincial office of the Ministry of Education and Culture said<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Andreas Dehen said the need was extremely acute, especially in<br>\nremote areas.<\/p>\n<p>Antara quoted Andreas as saying that 3,935 homeroom teachers<br>\nwere required, while an additional 1,302 physical education<br>\nteachers, 856 Islamic religion teachers, 778 Christian religion<br>\nteachers and 264 Hindu or Buddhist religion teachers were needed.<\/p>\n<p>To overcome the shortage of teachers, the province has adopted<br>\na system of rotating visiting teachers and has combined classes<br>\nwhen studying certain subjects.
