Java trip<br>\ndraws small fans<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Central Java, the country&apos;s strongest badminton<br>\npowerhouse province, paid sour tribute to the Thomas and Uber<br>\nCups when both coveted trophies made a 80-kilometer trip to three<br>\nmajor towns on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Joko Suprianto, Susi Susanti and their teammates were greeted<br>\nby small numbers of fans when their motorcade arrived in<br>\nSurakarta, Semarang and Kudus. The quiet response was in contrast<br>\nto the previous victory celebrations in Jakarta, Bandung and<br>\nYogyakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The triumphant shuttlers should have found consolation when<br>\nGovernor Soewardi welcomed them with a medals presentation. Only<br>\neight badminton players in the entourage, all from Central Java,<br>\nincluding Ardy Wiranata, Hariyanto Arbi and Yuliani Sentosa,<br>\nreceived medals from Soewardi.<\/p>\n<p>The Badminton Association (PBSI) plans to move the victory<br>\ncelebration to Surabaya, East Java.
