        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2014 BYD has officially brought its first plug-in hybrid\nelectric vehicle (PHEV) technology to Indonesia through its popular M6\nmodel on Monday (18\/05\/2026). This move marks a new chapter in BYD\u2019s\nelectrification strategy in the country, offering a transitional\nsolution for consumers who are not yet fully ready to switch to pure\nbattery electric vehicles (BEVs).<\/p>\n<p>Named the BYD M6 DM (Dual Motor), the vehicle utilises DM 5.0\ntechnology, the latest generation of BYD\u2019s hybrid system launched\nglobally in 2024. This system is designed to provide a driving\nexperience similar to an electric vehicle while maintaining the\nflexibility of a petrol engine, particularly amidst rising fuel costs\nand ongoing concerns regarding pure electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe public currently needs mobility solutions that are easy,\naffordable, and reliable for both daily and long-distance travel.\nTherefore, BYD is introducing technology that is not only efficient but\nalso practical to use,\u201d stated during the launch ceremony on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Eagle Zhao, President Director of PT BYD Motor Indonesia, emphasised\nthat the M6 DM is the first BYD model in Indonesia to adopt this Dual\nMode technology. \u201cThe BYD M6 DM is a 7-seater MPV designed for\nIndonesia. The journey towards sustainable mobility requires more than\none path. Not all markets can transition at the same time. Therefore,\nBYD DM serves as a practical low-emission mobility solution that can\nhelp accelerate the transition towards electrification,\u201d Zhao said.<\/p>\n<p>Technically, the BYD M6 DM is equipped with an efficient 1,500 cc\nengine producing a maximum power of 72 kW and 125 Nm of torque, paired\nwith an EHS (Electric Hybrid System) 5.0 motor capable of reaching up to\n15,000 rpm. The DM system features three driving modes: EV mode, which\nprovides a silent driving experience as the wheels are driven entirely\nby the electric motor; HEV Series mode, which activates when the battery\npower falls below a set State of Charge (SOC), using the engine as a\ngenerator to recharge the battery; and HEV Parallel mode, where both the\nelectric motor and engine drive the wheels simultaneously to provide\nresponsive acceleration, particularly for overtaking on highways.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo technologies, one ecosystem, and one shared vision for smarter\nmobility and a more inclusive future in Indonesia,\u201d added Zhao. For\nconsumers interested in experiencing the vehicle, Zhao confirmed that\nthe BYD M6 DM is now available for test drives across the entire BYD\ndealer network in Indonesia.<\/p>",
