Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anindya\nNovyan Bakrie, assesses that the business world is facing heavy pressure\ndue to escalating global uncertainties. Business actors are urged not\nonly to focus on survival but also to promptly return to the path of\ngrowth so that the wheels of the economy continue to turn.<\/p>\n
That statement was delivered by Anindya during the press conference\n\u201cKadin Business Pulse Q1 2026: Navigating Uncertainty, From Business\nSentiment to Policy Action\u201d at Menara Kadin Indonesia, Kuningan,\nJakarta, on Friday (24\/04\/2026).<\/p>\n
Anindya said that the dynamics of conflict in the Middle East have\nhad a direct impact on the economy, including Indonesia. The rise in\nenergy prices is one of the main pressures felt by the business world.\n\u201cThe most felt impact is the increase in fuel prices, which then spills\nover into higher operational costs. However, this condition is not\nmatched by an increase in purchasing power, because liquidity is\ncurrently very tight,\u201d said Anindya.<\/p>\n
That situation has prompted Kadin Indonesia to routinely compile the\nKadin Business Pulse survey every quarter. This survey is based on input\nfrom companies directly involved in managing financial performance. \u201cThe\nresponses we receive come from companies that directly hold aspects of\nprofit and loss. So this is not an assumption, but evidence-based,\u201d\nstated Anindya.<\/p>\n
According to Anindya, amid developments in digital technology and\nartificial intelligence, data collection is becoming increasingly\ncomprehensive. However, direct interaction with business actors is still\nneeded to capture real conditions in the field. Therefore, Kadin\ncontinues to reach out to regions to ensure that the economic picture is\nnot only data-based but also direct experiences of business actors.<\/p>\n
Anindya reminds that the Indonesian business world has gone through\nvarious major crises, from the 1998 financial crisis, the 2008 global\ncrisis, to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021 to 2022. Those experiences\nbecome important lessons for business actors to build more resilient and\nadaptive business models. \u201cThe challenge now is how to respond to this\nsituation. Whether to just focus on efficiency by tightening the belt,\nor to promptly return to the growth path,\u201d said Anindya.<\/p>\n
Based on the results of the Kadin Business Pulse Q1 2026 survey, the\nmajority of business actors choose to carry out gradual efficiency while\npreparing steps to return to growth. This strategy is considered a\nrealistic approach amid cost pressures and global uncertainties.<\/p>\n
