Business centers near completion<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Two business centers in Muara Karang and Pluit, North
\nJakarta, which will cost an estimated Rp 26.35 billion (US$2.53
\nmillion) to build, will be finished in the first quarter of 2002.<\/p>\n
\"Construction on the 5,201-square-meter plot of land in Muara
\nKarang is 80 percent complete, while the center on Jl. Pluit
\nSakti is 90 percent built and nearing completion,\" said the
\nsenior secretary manager of PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), Budi
\nSulistiyo, as quoted by Antara on Monday.<\/p>\n
Both centers are being built on land owned by PT Jakpro, a
\ncity-owned enterprise focusing in construction, in cooperation
\nwith the private sector.<\/p>\n
The company is cooperating with PT Pondok Permata Indah Permai
\n(PPIP) in building the center in Muara Karang, which will house a
\n44 shop\/house complex valued at Rp 10.7 billion. The center will
\nalso feature a Rp 600 million tennis court.<\/p>\n
PT Jakpro is also cooperating with PT Kencana Megah Dian Abadi
\nto build the other center on a 7,313-square-meter lot in Pluit.<\/p>\n
\"The center will contain 61 shops\/houses worth Rp 15.05
\nbillion,\" said Budi.<\/p>\n
PT PPIP and PT KMDA are obliged to submit Rp 14.95 billion and
\nRp 20.427 billion respectively to PT Jakpro in the 30-year Build-

Paintings shown for Australian Day<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: To commemorate the anniversary of Australia, which
\nfalls on Jan. 26, the Australian Alumni Association and the
\nAustralia Indonesia Institute are cooperating with Prime Global
\nLink Pty. Ltd. to stage a painting exhibition.<\/p>\n
The Friendship through Art exhibition will be officially
\nopened on Jan. 28 and will continue until Feb. 3 at the lobby of
\nthe Gran Melia Hotel on Jl. HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The Australian Embassy Jakarta Counsellor for Cultural
\nAffairs, Geoffrey Leach, said in a release Tuesday that the
\nexhibition, which will display 70 paintings, was the second
\nfollowing the successful initial show at the World Trade Center
\non Jl. Jend. Sudirman, Central Jakarta, last year.<\/p>\n
Among the painters are Sumadi S. (formerly Indonesian
\nAmbassador to Mexico), Totong R. Oesman, Sugiapto Trisna of
\nIndonesia and Michael J. Summers, Nelson Nurse and Todd J. Cutten

\nTraffic mishap kills two
\nJP\/6\/GREAT<\/p>\n
BOGOR: Two motorcyclists were killed and two others were
\nseriously injured in a chain reaction accident involving three
\nmotorcycles and a truck on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
An eyewitness said that the truck, which had engine trouble,
\nwas parked at the roadside when the Suzuki motorcycle hit it. He
\nsaid the driver might not have seen the truck as it was quite
\ndark.<\/p>\n
Both people on the motorcycle were killed instantly.<\/p>\n
Two other motorcycles traveling behind the Suzuki also hit the
\ntruck.<\/p>\n
The three motorcycles were all being ridden at high speed,
\naccording to the eyewitness.--JP<\/p>",
