I want to ask all parties concerned to keep an open mind in
\ndiscussing the increase of public transportation fares, already
\none-sidedly implemented by the respective owners, since the hike
\nin fuel prices.<\/p>\n
Admittedly such a hike does have an effect on the cost factor
\nof every commodity. But the question is, how high should the
\nprices go?<\/p>\n
For example, starting July 3, the Metromini bus fares went up
\nfrom Rp 700 to Rp 1000, an almost 50 percent increase in
\ncomparison to the average 30 percent only increase in fuel
\nprices. Is this still within the range of acceptability?<\/p>\n
The fares of regular buses are now also up 50 percent (Rp 750
\ninstead of the previous Rp 500).<\/p>\n
It all boils down to the fact that every passenger has to bear
\nthe entire Rp 300 increase in the price of diesel fuel.<\/p>\n
My opinion is that the recent increase in public
\ntransportation fares is just far too much. Someone should start
\n\"fueling\" up the public to reject it. Let's shout a loud \"no\" to
\nincreased fares!<\/p>\n
